What to wear to look Amazing in your engagement photos!

WHAT TO WEAR

First of congratulations! This next year is gonna be super fun for the both of you!

Now it’s time to get you guys some amazing photos so that you can start sending out save the dates!

So you’re probably wondering what should you wear for your engagement session? Great news this guide will give you a good idea of what to wear and what to avoid.

  1. BE COMFY & CUTE

More important than what you’re wearing is how you feel about what you’re wearing. This is amplified X 100 when you’re taking engagement photos. You’re already conscious of every detail so you’re that much more aware. How you feel about how you look also effects your mood. (Check out this article on how your mood/mindset effects your photos) In general your mood affects your photo just as much as your clothing so you should be absolutely comfortable and wearing something that makes you feel absolutely amazing. Whether its been in your wardrobe for 15 minutes or 15 months feel comfortable.

2. TRY TO AVOID MATCHING

Stay away from matching colors and patterns. You guys are two unique individuals that should complement one another but matching is very distractive and could ruin the uniqueness of your individuality. You also risk making your photos look bland and out of date. Instead reach for complementary colors

3. COLORS AND TONES

Try to build your outfits around natural tones. Earth tones are great, but you don’t necessarily have to stick with that if your personality or theme for the shoot is more neon or vibrant, then make sure that the environment matches the theme. Let the season inspire you.

4. ACCESSORIZE.

Catherine and I always encourage couples to bring something meaningful to them, this extends to your Accessories as well. A purse, flowers, jewelry, scarves, necklace, all of these are great accessories that can complement and build onto your outfit.

5. AVOID TRENDY.

These images are going to be with you guys and will stand the test of time. Try to wear something that will never be outdated

BONUS TIPS:

Comfy shoes: Wear your best shoes during your photos but consider bringing a pair of walk-around shoes.

Pop of color: Pop of color is always great. That contrast can be the diffract between a ok photo and amazing photo! This can be in the form of a colorful pair of shoes, heels, bright accessories, jewelry, hat, scarves, or dress.

WE RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM THE FOLLOWING:

Clothes that have large graphics or logos.

Mixed patterns. Stay away from anything too distracting (like stripes and polka dots). If wearing a pattern, keep it to a single item of clothing or accessory.
If at all possible, stay away from bright white shirts. our eye’s are naturally drawn to the brightest object  in a photo. If that’s a white shirt, it’s what you and others will notice first in the photos.
