5 Simple Poses every Bride should Know
and how to add your own variations
so imagine this..
You’ve just had an amazing wedding ceremony full of beauty and emotion. Afterwards your photographer wisks you two off to take portraits. You’re nervous, anxious about portraits because you hate how you look in photos and you just wanna get the whole thing over with. This is a bad time because you don’t know the little things like what to expect and how to position your body. You don’t know the ends and outs of what’s considered the core essential to make you look and feel confident!
Don’t Panic!
Hi! I’m Anthony,
half of the dynamic duo behind AnthonyMJPhotography! Catherine and I have been fortunate enough to photograph loads of amazing couples! Despite Catherine and I being photographers we don’t necessarily love the idea of being in front of the camera 😄 so we totally understand photo anxiety. This ACTUALLY has helped us to design a system and allows anyone to feel their unique self!
These are a few essential posses that can make you look like a pro in no time.
The Face to Face
This classic pose is a traditional staple. Face each other and look into each other‘s eyes. Gaze at your partner and allow they’re energy to be your guide. This can turn into hysterical laughter, move into warm smiles or even an awkward stare which is OK because even that can transition into something more meaningful something deeper.
-
Turn your head to the left or right depending on which side the camera is on to give a better read on your face.
The back to back
I love the back 2 back! its great for setting the stage for epic landscape and environmental portraits but can also be great close up. Take a deep breathe and look off into the distance or even close your eyes and lean back. If you fall i’ll shoot that too!
-
Simply add more or decrease the amount of space between the two of you.
The Cuddle from Behind
The cuddle from behind is warm and dreamy. Who doesn’t like a nice cuddle? Close your eyes take a deep breath and embrace one another. With this pose I often like to separate the couple a few feet apart and shoot through their entire motion reconnecting. This creates a dynamic feeling to the image.
-
You guys can switch places to add variety to this one.
The T-pose
For the T pose I like to face one person towards me and one person facing there partner. The female hugs her arm around her partner while they keep eye contact with each other or close them ALL-TOGETHER.
-
the female can rest her arms on his shoulders instead of hugging his arm with the off hand.
Bonus tips:
Hand placement:
You have to give the hands a job! (you’ll get that later) You must give your hands something to grab, rub, touch or hold. If your hands aren’t holding anything keep them relaxed and partially closed but not Tight or closed fisted. close fist convey tension in your images.
Overall body language:
Your overall body language should be relaxed try to always have your weight on your back-foot.
